Regina Schmeken has been photographing black and white since 1976.
Since 1980 her pictures have been regularly exhibited, including the Museum of Photography and the German Historical Museum in Berlin, at the Lenbachhaus in Munich, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and the Museum Folkwang in Essen.
She works for the Süddeutsche Zeitung since 1986.
She received national and international prizes, 1978 the Critics Award of the “Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie” in Arles / France, 1984 the promotion prize for artistic photography of the LH Munich and 1996 “Dr. Erich Salomon Prize” of the German Society for Photography.
Her works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art / New York, the Museum Ludwig / Cologne, the Bibliothèque Nationale / Paris and the Lenbachhaus / Munich.
